Florida has the highest drowning death rate in the nation for children under age five.
With over 1 million swimming pools in addition to the 30,000 lakes, the state of Florida is the place to enjoy recreational water activities. This easy access to refreshing water also presents a serious safety hazard for young children.
To address this widespread safety concern, The Champion for Children Foundation has partnered with the Highlands County YMCA to promote drowning awareness and water safety. The prevention initiative is saving lives of young children in our community.
