The School Board of Highlands County and Champion for Children Foundation will host the
8th Annual Champion for Children Youth Awards in early Spring of 2027
to highlight and celebrate our local youth for their service to others, strong character, positive behavior, and meaningful impact.
Congratulations to the 2026 Youth Award Finalists, Jaelynn Altman, Gabriel Ford, Madison Layport, Alaina Lemler, Kaylee Owens, Briggs Thayer, and 2026 Youth Award Recipient Maria Swaford.

Champion for Children Youth Award Criteria
• A current student in Highlands County, Florida (K-12 public, private, or home education).
• Demonstrates a sincere, caring desire to help others.
• Has taken action to address a problem or need.
• Has positively impacted an individual, group, or community.
Nominations may be submitted at any time for the 2027 Youth Awards.
