More About The Vision Quest Program
Does your child have vision problems? Are you concerned about future eye problems for your child? Are you worried that some of our children will grow up with undetected vision difficulties? Well, we offer ways to detect and correct vision problems for young children.
The Vision Quest – Eye Check Program utilizes NASA developed technologies to determine if vision problems exist for pre-kindergartners, kindergartners, and those children in first, second, and third grades. The goal is to catch vision problems for children early, thereby preventing more serious problems from developing later in the child’s life.
Since studies have shown that normal vision is imperative to brain development, the focus of this program is to proactively detect and correct eye and vision abnormalities. These screenings are vital to the health and education of our children. Typically, about 10% of the students screened in our Highlands County’s schools are referred for additional medical follow up. In other words, 1 out of 10 children screened through the Vision Quest Program demonstrated some condition that would have gone undetected had this service not been provided.
