Champion for Children Circle Theatre

Built in 1923, the Circle Theatre is located on the circle in historic downtown Sebring. In April 2011, the Champion for Children Foundation purchased the Circle Theatre as a new initiative to actively support local children’s art programs and enhance joy through family-friendly productions.

After three years of renovations, the Circle Theatre opened to offer various art-related activities and programs for children as well as serving as an elegant venue rental for the community.

In 2017, the Circle Theatre is restructuring to focus on bringing beneficial prevention programs and enhanced services to local families. Mission-focused programs will provide community trainings, support groups, educational events, and family resources. Also be on the lookout for local artist series, community concerts, and children’s theatrical performances.

The Circle Theatre remains available as an elegant weekend venue rental. If you are looking for a beautiful atmosphere to hold your next special event, please contact the Champion for Children Foundation main office #(863) 382-2905 for availability and details.

When the Circle Theatre first opened its doors to the public in 1923, it was considered the “coolest place in town.”  Early settlers of Sebring flocked to the Theatre to get away from the oppressive heat and mosquitoes, especially during the summer months. Silent movies were shown in the 1920’s, and FDR had fireside chats to the audience in the 1940’s during WWII.

Since that time, the theatre fell upon hard times and was abandoned. Walls that once rung with laughter and music echoed with silence. The Champion for Children Foundation, determined to serve children and families in the local community, saw great potential within those walls. In 2011, the Foundation began working tirelessly on the project to restore it for future generations.

Now that the doors have re-opened, the Champion for Children Circle Theatre is used for a wide variety of functions including community trainings, educational events, children’s theatre, artist series, and as a wedding/special event venue. The Champion for Children Foundation’s hope is to enrich the lives of many families in Highlands County through this nationally registered historic landmark.
